Technology
Ecosil optimizes technology development by using non-dilutive funding from federal agencies such as the NSF and DOD using SBIR grants.
Agile Technology Development Process
We apply a highly efficient technology development model to our research activities that consists of the five following steps:
- Identify a market need from manufacturing and chemical partners
- Evaluate current stage of technology and identify alternate solutions
- Conduct initial in house research and file patents
- Secure seed funding and commercial partners
- Demonstration testing and scale up
In this way we are able to retain the developed intellectual property rights for the technology and optimize the organization structure to introduce and grow the business. We have utilized a variety of federal research funding mechanisms for coating technology development. A representative list of these programs can be found on the partners page.
Areas of Research and Development Focus
Ecosil’s focus area is in the development of surface modification coatings and processes to reduce corrosion, improve wear resistance, and minimize environmental impact of metal products. We do this by using safe materials including silicon and aluminum based compounds to replace heavy metals that have traditionally been used in manufacturing in automotive, aerospace, and energy production industries. Areas of research and development include the following:
- Silane Based Metal Surface Treatments
- Trivalent Chrome Surface Passivation Treatments
- Silane/Zr-oxide Based Sealers Pretreatment
- Surface Modification Coatings - Aluminide coatings
- Plasma Surface
